First meeting of the CoD Executive Committee led by Canada

On October 20, the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Community of Democracies, led by Canada as Chair, was held. It was also the first meeting in which the new leadership of the Civil Society Pillar participated.

Representatives of the governments of Canada, Poland, Morocco, the Republic of Korea, Romania and the United States, along with Thomas Garrett as Permanent Secretary of the Community, some people from his team, and Enrique de Obarrio, Chair of the Pillar, participated in the meeting.

Canada, as the new Chair, indicated that its leadership priorities will be focused on resilient democracy, with a focus on countering disinformation and strengthening the youth forum.

At the meeting, they mentioned the renewal process for 2023, which, being the last of the first complete cycle, opens the door to the opportunity to review the entire process.

The next meeting will be held in December in person in Warsaw.
